# What Is Okapay? A Global Merchant Payment Platform

> Okapay is a full-stack merchant payments platform. Accept cards, wallets, crypto, and local rails across 160+ countries with one integration.

Okapay is a full-stack merchant payments platform built for businesses that need to accept money globally, manage recurring revenue, and move funds reliably — without juggling multiple providers. With a single integration you can accept credit and debit cards, digital wallets, cryptocurrency, and local payment rails like PIX and SEPA across 160+ countries and 135+ currencies. Okapay pairs a developer-friendly REST API and PHP SDK with a merchant dashboard that gives you real-time control over products, checkout sessions, invoices, subscriptions, and payouts.

## Supported payment methods

Okapay routes payments across cards, wallets, crypto, local bank rails, and buy-now-pay-later — so your customers always have a familiar way to pay.

| Category | Methods |
| - | - |
| **Cards** | Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB, Discover, Diners Club, Maestro |
| **Digital Wallets** | Google Pay, Apple Pay, Revolut Pay |
| **Cryptocurrency** | Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), USDT, USDC, TRON (TRX), BNB |
| **Local Rails** | PIX (Brazil / LatAm), SEPA |
| **Buy Now, Pay Later** | Klarna (Europe & US) |

Okapay supports **135+ currencies** and operates in **160+ countries**, with smart routing that maximises authorisation rates automatically.

## How it works

**1. Integrate the API or PHP SDK**

Add Okapay to your backend using the REST API or the PHP SDK (`composer require okapay/okapay-php`). Create a product and open a checkout session in a few lines of code.

**2. Your customer pays via hosted checkout**

Okapay presents a secure, PCI-compliant hosted checkout page. Your customer selects their preferred payment method — card, wallet, crypto, or local rail — and completes the payment.

**3. You receive your payout**

Once the payment is confirmed, the funds are settled to your account. Track the status in the merchant dashboard and schedule payouts to your bank on your preferred cadence.

## Developer-friendly by design

Okapay is built API-first so you can integrate quickly and stay in control. The REST API uses standard HTTP verbs and returns JSON. The official PHP SDK wraps the API with idiomatic PHP methods and handles authentication automatically.

Install the PHP SDK with Composer:

```bash theme={null}
composer require okapay/okapay-php
```

Authenticate by setting your secret key as an environment variable:

```env theme={null}
OKAPAY_SECRET_KEY=sk_live_xxxxxxxxx
```

Then make your first API call:

```php theme={null}
<?php
require __DIR__ . '/vendor/autoload.php';
use Okapay\Client;
$okapay = new Client(); // reads OKAPAY_SECRET_KEY from env
$products = $okapay->products()->list(['per_page' => 20]);
```

Okapay infrastructure is certified **PCI DSS Level 1** — the highest level in the payments industry — so your customers' card data is always handled to the strictest security standards. Additional certifications include ISO 27001, SOC 2 Type II, and GDPR compliance.
